When not in meetings as the majority owner of the NBA’s Charlotte Hornets, Michael Jordan likes to spend his time on the golf course. Rumors abound that he’s looking to build his own exclusive country club in Florida. Jordan is a member of the Bear’s Club in Jupiter, but sources say “Jordan has grown frustrated with pace of play at the club.”
Golf.com’s Josh Sens tried to get a confirmation of the story from Jordan’s business manager, Estee Portnoy, but she didn’t respond to Sens’ request. Portnoy is known as “the woman behind Michael.” They’ve been working together for about 19 years. “Estee handles my day-to-day marketing and business matters and serves as the primary contact for my corporate partners,” Jordan explains. “She is responsible for managing my schedule, executing my corporate contracts, reviewing all marketing proposals, coordinating many of my charitable efforts, and for making sure that the use of my name and image is consistent with my wishes.” He added, “At times she’s a real pain in the ass–I like to live in the present, but she’s always making sure that things are set weeks and months in advance.”
