Several video game reviewers are not happy with the new content of ‘Evolve’ and the publisher’s “greedy” business plan. According to VG247, the game is “happily charging for cosmetic content on day one and has a pre-order and DLC system so ridiculously convoluted it has long overshadowed any goodwill players had for the makers of Left4Dead.” (2K Games is the publisher, Turtle Rock Studios is the developer.) Specific complaints include a lack of power when playing as the monster, not enough feedback, and “breathing fire is like blowing dust.”
The big business question is will 2K players pay $7 for additional skins, $25 for a season pass or $7.50 for extra characters, in addition to the $60 for the game? As Pr3mi3r points out, they don’t need to. ‘Evolve’ is totally functional without any additional purchase. Pr3mi3r says, “I’m enjoying it, is it the greatest game ever, no. But I feel I got a complete game and my money’s worth.”
