San Francisco Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong just secured a $4 million, one-year contract to stay with the team. But before the contract was negotiated, lots of people expected him to sign elsewhere. Before the re-sign, Chris Haft, SF Giants beat reporter at MLB.com, wrote a tribute to Ryan Vogelson (hoping he’d stay) that made Ryan’s wife Nicole get weepy.
Fans responded with tears in their eyes, too. @SFGiantsMeag wrote: “I can’t even tell you how badly I want you & Ryan to be back w/ the Giants. It makes me cry to think of you guys elsewhere.” And @SEThomas chimed in: “Vogey will always be a Giant.” @basballbabe_8 had this to say: “and if he goes elsewhere we will still love him!” Sure, Ryan is a talented player, but we can’t help but notice most of the Twitter love is coming from female fans, which backs the theory that “Women are turned on by bearded men named Ryan.”
