Samsung’s long-awaited Tizen smartphone operating system has arrived. Well, at least in India. It’s selling for just 5700 Indian rupees (about $90).
The Samsung Z1 is a “much lower-end device” than what was first promised in 2013. The Z1 has a 4-inch WVGA screen, 3G data, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 768MB of RAM, a 1500mAh battery, a 3.1-megapixel camera, and 4GB of storage (plus a microSD slot). However, Samsung says its lightweight Tizen platform enables the phone’s fast boot time, web performance and battery efficiency. The question is: can it compete with Google’s Android One platform.
