Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman and his girlfriend are expecting a baby boy, and the little guy just might be arriving around the same time Sherman’s expecting to kiss the Super Bowl trophy. Sherman gives his unborn son a lot of credit already, saying he’s certain the boy will be a “disciplined young man” and wait until after the Super Bowl to make his debut.
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said he would support Sherman’s decision to skip the Super Bowl to attend the birth of his son. “Whenever our players have a personal or family issue that comes up, it’s always about family first and they have to decide what’s best for them, and I support that,” Carroll said in a press conference. It was a very diplomatic answer, but it’s hard to picture Sherman telling coach Carroll he just can’t make it. It almost wouldn’t be fair to Sherman’s son, who’d always be the reason his dad missed the Super Bowl. If Sherman skipped and the Seahawks lost, the kid surely wouldn’t be able to live in Seattle!
