In a good story on JR Smith’s adjustment to playing with LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers, the New York Post quotes Smith comparing the LeBron leadership style with that of Smith’s old teammate Carmelo Anthony of the Knicks. “[Anthony] is more of an ‘I’ll show you,’ as opposed to Bron is more of an ‘I’ll tell you, then I’ll show you,'” relays Smith. Smith is averaging 17 per after a throwaway first game with the Cavs. He averaged just 11 for this year’s dreadful Knicks.
The line that could win any big time understatement contest? “Smith’s small-sample resurgence has made a fan of James, who reportedly was consulted before the Cavaliers decided to go ahead with the trade.” Yup, LeBron James was reportedly consulted before the Cavs traded for a guy who takes double digit shots a game. You think? You think maybe the Cavs front office asked LeBron what he thought of JR Smith beforehand?
