Magic Johnson says that Klay Thompson–the Golden State Warriors sharpshooter who just scored 37 points in a single quarter–is the best all-around player in the league. Well, Thompson along with LeBron James. Magic knows a bit about “all-around” players, having modeled himself on Oscar Robertson and reinvented the meaning of “all-around player” when he entered the NBA.
Magic also said Klay Thompson should start in the All-Star game. Who could argue? His Warriors have the best record in the league. His Warriors backcourt mate Steph Curry was the leading vote-getter and he’ll start. The other spot is open. The fans had voted in Kobe Bryant, but Bryant just suffered a season-ending injury. Magic Johnson, btw, played on Lakers teams that featured a forward named Mychal Thompson. That’s Klay’s dad.
Klay Thompson and LeBron James are the two best all-around players we have in the NBA today!
