Oscar nominated actress Hailee Steinfeld (True Grit) will star in the film adaption of Carrie Pilby, the coming-of-age novel by Caren Lissner. Carrie is a 19-year-old genius who just graduated from Harvard. But now, living alone in New York, she struggles to leave her apartment, let alone socialize with others.
Director Susan Johnson succeeded in raising the money needed ($73,213) to make the independent film via a Kickstarter campaign. Johnson says of Carrie: “I’ve always wanted to find a female Holden Caulfield. Carrie is brilliant, fragile, funny, conscious, inquisitive and brave enough to say the things we wouldn’t dare.”
