Talented guard Dion Waiters was happy to get off the Cleveland Cavaliers struggling virtual All-Star team. Getting traded to the OKC Thunder is such a relief that it feels like water in the desert to Waiters. Waiters told Darnell Mayberry of The Oklahoman that the difference between his stint in Cleveland and his new role in OKC is huge. In OKC, Waiters said, “they give me the ball. Like, I touch the ball. Like, I actually, like, you know, touch the ball.” Waiters loves it in OKC so much that it really is like he’s been spending time in the desert. Because what he’s experiencing is a mirage.
As NBA reporter John Schuhmann points out, Waiters actually had the ball in his hands more in Cleveland than he’s had it in OKC. Just feels different to him obviously. Perception, you know, it’s powerful.
