Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews is an eccentric young man. The 28-year-old comes from a long line of NFL players (his dad is All-Pro linebacker Clay Matthews, Jr. and his uncle is Hall of Famer Bruce Matthews.) Perhaps it’s his football heritage that gives him the confidence to try different things, off the football field. Or maybe it’s the long hair and beard.
Matthews III recently interned at the offices of video game maker “Call of Duty: Advance Warfare.” He wanted to see what goes into the making of the game. In 2011 Matthews was a guest referee for a WWE match. (The Rated-R Superstar overcame Dolph Ziggler.) Matthews told FoxSports that he was more nervous for that than he was for the Super Bowl. Despite the nerves, Matthews said he would work in the WWE again. “If they need me, I’ll throw on some wristbands, armbands, body spray, whatever they need.”
