College football quarterback Cardale Jones announced this week that he’ll return to Ohio State University for his junior season. His decision surprised many. According to his OSU coach Urban Meyer, Jones “would have likely been drafted in the second round had he entered this spring’s draft, with the potential to move into the late-first round.”
Jones said at the press conference: “Being a first-round draft pick means nothing to me without my education.” It’s a rare statement these days. “After life after football, I want to be a financial planner.” Jones has matured a lot during his stay at Ohio State. In October 2012, he tweeted: “Why should we have to go to class if we came here to play FOOTBALL, we ain’t come to play SCHOOL classes are POINTLESS.”
