Actor Dean Cain (Superman) and UFC fighter Uriah Faber are customers of Bello Verde, maker of custom tailored suits. They join tailor Joseph Chay on the TV show Shark Tank (Jan. 16) as Chay tries to get the sharks to invest in his business. Cain and Faber are just two of his famous, broad-shouldered clients who can’t wear suits off the rack.
Bello Verde clients get to choose the fabric, color and style of their suits, which are delivered to their homes when finished. Chay isn’t just a fine tailor, he’s a smart entrepreneur, too. When big time custom suit maker Astor and Bank went bankrupt, Chay bought their assets and name for $405,000. That’s less than 10 percent of what the company sold for a year earlier.
