Carlos Boozer has always started basketball games. He started in third grade and in high school. He started at Duke. He started for the Utah Jazz (where he was an NBA All-Star) and he started for the Chicago Bulls before signing this summer with the Los Angeles Lakers–where he was placed in the starting lineup. So when Byron Scott took away the 6’9″ power forward’s starting job this week, he didn’t know quite what to do.
But Boozer is smart, even if it doesn’t always show in his defense. He went to Nick Young (aka Swaggy P/Iggy Azalea husband), the entertaining young Lakers scorer who has come off the bench before, and asked him for advice. “I talked to [Young] about it, trying to stay warm on the bench, things like that,” Boozer told ESPN. “Hopefully we can start getting wins, if it works.” Boozer may not agree with the demotion, but like everyone else in LA, he’s tired of losing.
