“Stand on the shoulders of giants,” reads the perfectly chosen tagline at Google Scholar. That sounds good to college (and high school) students trying to bang out those term papers before the break. To turn in pro level work, you need sources and proper citations. Google Scholar works just like Google, but it mines the kind of scholarly sources you need to satisfy your professors–and yourself.
Google Scholar allows you to search for pertinent journal articles to feed and back up your work. You can set up alerts to inform you when new scholarly material appears on your topic. Plus Google Scholar makes things easy to organize in your own libraries, which you can build out of searched materials. You can even invite your professor to have a look at your library by sharing the resource.
