Wedged between CBS’s legendary 60 Minutes and its #1 show The Good Wife, the hour long drama Madam Secretary is thriving. Starring Téa Leoni as the U.S. Secretary of State and Tim Daly as her philosophical college professor/spy husband, Madam Secretary has solidified its spot in CBS’s winning Sunday night lineup. CBS just picked up the show for a full season. Madam Secretary airs Sundays at 8pm.
As The Hollywood Reporter says, “Leoni’s gravitas is believable at every turn. She [Madam Secretary] doesn’t like to be coached, she doesn’t like to be second-guessed and she can be gracious in a political battle just as easily as she can be fearless and stare daggers across the table.” The show has a lot going for it including the occasional direction of Eric Stoltz (Mask, Some Kind of Wonderful, Pulp Fiction). We only hope that Madam Secretary’s chief of staff (the great Bebe Neuwirth, aka Lilith on Cheers) gets a new hairdo before Season 2. Seriously, what’s with the curly bangs? Leoni is too beautiful to fear the competition–let’s give Neuwirth new hair. We have the power: #neuwirthnewhair.
