Young horror movie fans are really mad about the movie Ouija. 34-year-old film critics like Jeremy Jahns are fuming and taking to YouTube to air their frustrations about Ouija being yet another “boring ass, f—ing generic horror movie.” Yes, Ouija has a predictable plot. A group of teens use an Ouija board to try to communicate with a friend who died. “This movie is consistently boring!” Jahns yells. However, older critics including Odie Henderson find it charming. He gave it three stars.
On the RogerEbert website, Henderson wrote: “the filmmakers were actually trying to tell a decent campfire story. The movie has a nice visual polish and a story that covers all the narrative bases of a good spooky bedtime story.” Henderson agrees about the plot’s predictability. “As a lifelong horror movie viewer,” he wrote, “I wasn’t scared by the film, but I dug the many ways it tried to goose me.”
