Real Madrid vs. Barcelona. 500 million people are supposed to be watching this Spanish rivalry featuring the world’s greatest football player–whether you think that’s Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo. Or is it Luis Suarez? Messi could break a 70 year old goal scoring mark in La Liga–he has 250 career strikes and he’d love to find the back of the net in Madrid for 251 or 253. But Messi will have a hard time looking like the most ferocious goal scorer on the pitch.
That would be Cristiano Ronaldo, right? The Real Madrid maestro has already scored 22 goals this season, just two behind the all-time Champions League record, held by Madrid legend Raul. But many of those 1 billion eyeballs will be on Suarez, who will make his Barca debut today after serving out his four month suspension for that little biting incident. Suarez is going to be looking to establish his bona fides early–and no place better than in Madrid.
