Academy Award winning actor Greg Kinnear (As Good as It Gets) announced that he’ll be joining the cast of Same Kind of Different as Me with Renee Zellweger (Cold Mountain) and Jon Voight (Coming Home). Same Kind of Different as Me is a faith-based film based on Ron Hall and Denver Moore’s 2006 New York Times best selling book. Kinnear will play Hall, an art dealer whose wife (Zellweger) is very connected with God. She tells her husband to ‘save’ a homeless man she has met, Moore (played by Djimon Hounsou). Voight plays Kinnear’s father.
Although Kinnear says “I wouldn’t call myself a deeply religious person,” this isn’t Kinnear’s first faith-based film. He played the father/preacher in Heaven Is for Real. His son in the film claims to have gone to heaven and back. The film is based on the book which is considered non-fiction. While critics praised the cast of Heaven Is for Real, many were “critical of heavy-handed exposition.”
