Jerry Jones said after week 3 about his 2-1 Cowboys: “I think we’ve shown some things that would cause you to hold [off] in discounting us.” He was talking on his radio program on KRLD-FM. “Romo’s certainly getting his timing down. I like the experience our offensive line is getting and has gotten in these three games. Yes. Yeah. We need to be glanced at over here.”
Glanced at? Cause you to hold? Pretty soft boasting from a man not exactly known to hold his tongue–or underestimate his chances. Maybe those consecutive 8-8 seasons put a dent in the Jones armor? The 3-1 Cowboys deserved even more than a glance after trouncing Drew Brees and the Saints last week, 38-17. Problem is the momentum had Jerry Jones starting to make recommendations again. He said this week before the Texans game that running backs Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar should get more touches. Good thing nobody–including Coach Jason Garrett–listened to Jones. The Cowboys beat the Texans while keeping the ball in the hands of DeMarco Murray (136 yards on 31 carries). Randle had 2 carries for 4 yards. Now the Cowboys are 4-1. Jerry Jones was just looking for glances. Teams are staring up at his Cowboys now. What’ll he recommend next?
