Lady Gaga told Parade magazine that she thought she wanted kids right away, but after spending time with Tony Bennett she changed her mind. “I just want to sing,” Gaga said. And not lullabyes either. After her 2013 album ARTPOP wasn’t received as well as her first two albums, Lady Gaga said she considering giving up on music all together. But then her days became filled with the spirit and company of her friend and collaborator, octogenarian singing legend Tony Bennett, who essentially told her to snap out of it.
When collaborating, the singers call themselves Tony and Lady. On September 23, they’re releasing a jazz album together called Cheek to Cheek. Referring to Lady, Tony said: “She’s up there with Ella Fitzgerald, who was the greatest singer in the world.”
