Denis Leary of Rescue Me has created and is writing the upcoming FX comedy series Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll. He plays Johnny Rock, a middle-aged rock n’ roller who desperately wanted to be rich and famous but he’s neither. He was the lead singer of a popular 90s band, The Heathens, and was on his way to the cover of Rolling Stone but he had a problem with booze. And coke. And weed. And pills…
While the sex is harder to find and the pills have changed (to Crestor and Cialis), Johnny Rock won’t let his rock ‘n roll dream die. He tries to get the band back together with lead guitarist Flash (John Corbett) and adds a 22-year-old singer to the mix — Gigi, played by Elizabeth Gillies from Disney’s Victorious. Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll will premiere early 2015.
