When Brad Pitt says someone is a good actor you have to remember that, as the husband of Jennifer Aniston, he once had a unrestricted view of Matt LeBlanc‘s process. So we’re advised to pay attention when Pitt opines. Interviewed recently by British GQ, Pitt praised his Fury co-star Shia LaBeouf: “Oh, I love this boy. He’s one of the best actors I’ve ever seen.” (LeBeouf is 28 years old. Pitt is 50.)
While filming the WWII drama Fury, rumors spread that Pitt and LaBeouf had some issues with co-star Scott Eastwood. The actors spent a week together on a bivouac in England while filming. They went without shaves, showers and plumbing. But the thing that pissed off Pitt and LeBeouf is that Eastwood kept spitting tobacco juice on the floor. Pitt didn’t want his war ambience to be, you know, all gross. Turns out–and you’ll chuckle like Brad did–Eastwood was supposed to spit tobacco. It was in the script! Ha! If only someone had shown Pitt the script! The authenticity of the sensitive actors has swayed film critics including Michael Cieply of The New York Times who writes that Fury “promises to be one of the most daring studio movies.” The film reveals “the extremes endured, and inflicted, by Allied troops who entered Germany in the spring of 1945.”
