Jemele Hill, co-host of ESPN’s Numbers Never Lie, is urging a boycott of Mayweather fights for a variety of reasons including: his failure to take full responsibility for his past domestic abuse behavior for which he went to jail, (he blames the system – “there were no pictures or videos”), and for saying the NFL should have stuck with their first decision to suspend Ray Rice for just two games.
Sarah Spain, a SportsCenter anchor for Chicago’s ESPN1000 and a reporter for ESPNChicago.com, wrote this week’s article “Why You Should Never Buy A Floyd Mayweather Fight Again.” But until a well-respected man with celebrity (in the media or sports or entertainment industry) stands up and urges his fan base to stop paying Mayweather millions to box, a boycott won’t have much impact.
