Donald Glover (Community) will voice Miles Morales, Peter Parker’s half-Latino, half-black counterpart who exists in a parallel world. The character was actually inspired by Glover. Back in 2011 Brian Michael Bendis, author of Marvel Comics’ Ultimate Spider-Man series, saw Glover wearing Spider-Man pajamas on the popular NBC sitcom Community. Glover was also in the midst of a Twitter campaign at the time to play the role of Spider-Man on screen. He didn’t get the part, but his Twitter sense effectively tingled the Spidey author.
Now USA Today reports that Disney XD’s animated Ultimate Spider-Man series will feature Glover as the voice of Morales next season as Peter Parker explores alternate universes.
