Ghostbusters 3, to start shooting in 2015, will feature an all-female cast. The Hollywood Reporter and MTV report that Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is Sony Pictures’ first pick. But why not a female director, like Julie Taymor? The director of the Broadway production of ‘The Lion King’ and creative force behind ‘Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark’ knows how to direct flying creatures. Plus, Taymor has plenty of first-hand experience with ghosts: she directed the modern day twist of Shakespeare’s ‘The Tempest’ which is riddled with ghosts and spirits.
To get Americas singing, once again, “I ain’t afraid of no ghost!,” Sony will re-issue Ghostbusters in a re-mastered version for its 30th anniversary in September 2014.
