ESPN Sports Nation co-anchor Max Kellerman admitted that more than 20 years ago while he was in college he slapped his then-girlfriend after she slapped him first. (Like in an old Hollywood movie, really.) The two later married, and remain married. The admission came this week as Kellerman was talking on the radio program that precedes his on ESPN Radio in LA–Mason & Ireland.
The New York Daily News, which broke news of the suspension, also reports that ESPN would not “confirm or deny” the suspension. But Kellerman is not at work. ESPN reportedly issued a statement saying simply that, “Max Kellerman will return to ESPN-LA Radio and SportsNation on Thursday.” Kellerman’s alleged suspension follows ESPN’s definite suspension of popular sports talk personality Stephen A. Smith, after Smith said some truly asinine things about women learning not to “provoke” their men.
