The 1920s were a time of massive upheaval in Britain. Downton Abbey‘s Crawley family has had to move with the times, what with the motor car, women getting the vote, and the tuxedo. Now they have to adapt to a world with plastic bottles. A publicity photo for the new season of the drama has been circulating on the net, not because of the gorgeous costumes and antique decor, but because someone on the set left a plastic water bottle sitting on the mantle.
The photo shows Hugh Bonneville and Laura Carmichael decked out in 1920s attire standing in front of a beautiful marble fireplace with what appears to be a Dasani bottle glaringly out of place behind them. ITV quickly removed the photo from its website once the mistake had been caught, but by then it was too late: it had gone viral. They must not have had Photoshop in the 1920s. Quick: get the unflappable Mrs Hughes or the very capable Mr Carson in there to fix it.
