Chuck Knoblauch, the former MLB All-Star, was arrested in Houston for allegedly assaulting his wife. Knoblauch is out on bail, according to News92FM in Houston. The report said that Knoblauch was intoxicated when police arrived and that his wife, Cheri Knoblauch, had scratches and a contusion on her head. Knoblauch was accused of choking his girlfriend (not Chen) in 2009, but charges were dismissed.
A four-time All-Star and one-time Rookie of the Year, Knoblauch was due to have his number retired at a ceremony in Minnesota, one of his former teams. The ceremony has been cancelled, with the Minnesota Twins releasing a statement that read in part: “In light of recent news reports surrounding Chuck Knoblauch, as well as direct communication with the former Twins second baseman, the Minnesota Twins have decided to cancel the team’s 2014 Hall of Fame induction ceremony scheduled for August 23 at Target Field.”
