All you need is Love, the Beatles sang. And now LeBron James is singing the same tune. The King wants Kevin Love in Cleveland with him so much that he’s saying very little about the Cavs holding onto #1 draft pick Andrew Wiggins. (Wiggins shouldn’t worry: if you never play a game for the team that drafts you, a big career may still await, right Kobe Bryant?) In the back of his mind, LeBron remembers that the last time a major-league big man–and one named Kevin, at that–left the Timberwolves, he promptly won a championship.
Love is on his way out of Minnesota no matter what–the Timberwolves need to rebuild and it needs to start with their biggest asset. There’s some talk that Minnesota would prefer Golden State’s Klay Thompson over Wiggins, but that’s got to be wrong. Plus that move would leave Love in the Western Conference. Wolves fans would probably rather not see him there. Expect a move soon that puts Love in a Cleveland uniform, where he’ll get 12 rebounds a game and occasionally 40 points. LeBron will be smiling. Jay Z may even consider covering that old optimistic John Lennon ditty as a gift for his friend.
