Quarterback AJ McCarron was placed on the active/non-football injury list by the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday, which means he won’t be seeing any action for a while–on the football field anyway. In other news, the former University of Alabama standout McCarron married the former Miss Alabama, Katherine Webb, just last week. His injury is listed as “shoulder.”
AJ, who was second in Heisman Trophy voting last year, won’t be playing football because he is a new prized possession not just of Ms. Webb, but also of the Bengals. Cincinnati management came under some fire for taking McCarron even as late as the 5th round, which is where the college star was eventually picked. (That means teams thought there were 163 rookies better than he is–an unlikely proposition.) But if the pick turns out to be a good one, the Bengals will look like geniuses. His then fiancee, Katherine Webb, shot to fame last season when she was singled out by the elderly commentator Brent Musberger for being a beautiful woman–the kind “the quarterbacks always get.”
