Unreal From Within–that’s the tagline from Gatorade’s new worldwide soccer contest. But it’s not exactly accurate, because the brand is actually doing everything it can to make soccer–or football–dreams real. Gatorade is asking for soccer players from all around the globe to send in video of themselves performing “unreal” soccer moves. The company will send five winners on extraordinary two-week excursions to practice with legendary professional clubs like AC Milan, Arsenal, FC Barcelona, Brazil and Boca Juniors in Argentina. It’s like American Idol on steroids–you show your stuff and who knows? You may get to kick it around with Messi or David Luiz.
As Gatorade says, “the best players the world will ever see haven’t been seen yet. But they’re out there…” Videos should be between 30 seconds and two minutes and should display a player’s “unreal” moves. A short essay is also required–a mere 750 characters or less–that “demonstrates your dedication to improving your performance.” These two parts make up the entire “Creative assignment.” (Helpful hint: If you’re pressed for time, focus on the video part!) If you’re selected, coaches and pro players will see your skills live on the famous pitches in places like Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires or London. Here’s a look at what you’re up against. To enter go to GatoradeFutbol.com. Good luck–deadline for entry is June 12. Maybe try some of these:
