Celebrity professional athletes are known to marry actresses/models: Wayne Gretzky and Janet Jones, Jason Sehorn and Angie Harmon, Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker. And every once in a while one superstar athlete marries another. Sometimes it works out (Nomar Garciaparra and Mia Hamm) and sometimes it doesn’t (Greg Norman & Chris Evert). America’s newest nimble newlyweds are St. Louis Rams quarterback Brady Quinn and Olympic gymnast Alicia Sacramone.
Although football and gymnastics don’t seem to have a lot in common there is a notion that gymnasts are stronger than football players, at least pound for pound. A few years ago, gymnasts at the University of Georgia held a “weight room competition” with UGA football players. The gymnasts were able to do “more push-ups, more pull-ups, more jump rope, more leg lifts, more handstands, just everything” than the football players. Such a competition between Sacramone (5’ 1”, 117 lbs.) and Brady (6’3”, 235 lbs.) would certainly make for good TV. What ever happened to The Newlywed Game?
