There is a Museum of Everything. It’s a collection of art by self-taught artists (some call outsider) that’s housed in a former dairy in London. Thousands of paintings, drawings, sculptures and installations have been curated by the Museum Director, British filmmaker James Brett, and an intriguing selection is touring European cities. The diverse exhibit is currently in Paris at the Chalet Society, a Catholic seminary turned gallery in the chic Saint-Germain-des-Prés neighborhood.
This sometime haunting, often joyful art is intriguing on its own but–let’s face it–celebrities do drive traffic in this world. Wall labels for the current exhibition are written by big name artists including David Byrne and Ed Ruscha. The Museum of Everything will travel to Gorky Park in April, and rumor has it it’ll also make its way to the US (New York and Los Angeles) in 2013. Fingers crossed.
