Jerry Rice is known as one of the greatest players (some would argue the greatest player) in NFL history. The former gridiron star played wide receiver and won three Super Bowl titles (XXIII, XXIV, XXIX) with the San Francisco 49ers. Rice was named Super Bowl MVP (XXIII).
Rice is also a father of four children, including two daughters — Jaqui (born 1987) and Jada (born 1996). Rice’s family came up recently on the podcast New Heights, co-hosted by NFL star brothers Jason Kelce (Super Bowl LII champion and Philadelphia Eagles center) and Travis Kelce (two-time Super Bowl champion with the Kansas City Chiefs).
During the podcast, Travis asked their guest, former NFL wide receiver and Super Bowl champion Julian Edelman (New England Patriots) — who’s from the Bay Area — if it’s true he took Jerry Rice’s daughter to his prom. Edelman clarified, “She took me to her prom.”
Edelman goes on to admit that he used to go into Jerry Rice’s home office “all the time” and try on his Super Bowl rings and play with his souvenir Super Bowl footballs. Caught up in the moment, Edelman says, “They had such a cool house” and admitted that upon meeting Mr. Rice for the first time, he “intimidated the f—k out of me.”
Edelman says he gets it because he’s also the father of a daughter. (The mother of Edelman’s daughter is Swedish model Ella Rose.)
Note: When New Heights posted the clip and captioned it “Don’t let Jerry Rice see this”, his daughter Jada Rice replied: “He’s heard the same story and the 10+ other times it was told😂.”
As seen below, Jada is recently engaged.
Below is the entire episode of New Heights with the Kelce brothers and Edelman.
