Former Arizona gubernatorial candidate and potential Donald Trump running mate Kari Lake says she believes that former President Trump would “welcome” an indictment over Jan 6.
It would give him a chance, she says, to perform in the “trial of the century” — as Trump himself characterized a potential trial when rumors circulated that a Jan 6 indictment was imminent.
Talking about Special Counsel Jack Smith‘s office — and presumably the multiple other law enforcement entities that have and/or are in the process of indicting Trump — Lake says Trump will “throw it right back in their face” as he has, she claims, done with everything else — E. Jean Carroll notwithstanding.
Lake speculates what happened at the recent meeting between Trump’s lawyers and Smith’s team was that Trump’s attorneys taunted the prosecutors, reminding them that Trump would “welcome” a trial and saying: “Do you really want this? Because it’s gonna come right back in your face.”
Kari Lake says Trump is outsmarting Jack Smith: “You can’t bring down a giant like Donald J. Trump. I think he would welcome that indictment. Welcome a trial. Lake does some good campaigning for the VP spot during the clip too, fawning over Trump in a way he has unabashedly shown that he likes. Lake says Trump is playing “chess at the highest level” against the DOJ’s checkers.
After implying that Trump is working with greater intelligence than his adversaries, she also labels him a “giant,” saying “you can’t bring down a giant like Donald J. Trump.”
“They don’t want to pick a fight with him,” Lake says, a statement that is extremely hard to square with the Smith team’s actual actions — especially after it filed a superseding indictment against Trump this week in the ongoing classified documents case, increasing the number of federal charges against former President.
