Hollywood movie star Sarah Michelle Gellar is known for her TV role as Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997–2003) and as Daphne in the Scooby-Doo film franchise with her real-life husband, actor Freddie Prinze, Jr.
It’s been nearly 20 years since the last Scooby-Doo movie, Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, was released (2004). So when Gellar posed in front of The Mystery Machine (the gang’s van), her fans went wild with praise and hopes of a third Scooby-Doo movie.
When Gellar’s Scooby-Doo 2 and Buffy the Vampire co-star Seth Green saw the pic, he replied: “Dead. This is how you killed me” with a red heart emoji.
In Scooby-Doo 2, Green played Patrick Wisely, the museum curator for the Coolsonian Criminology Museum, and the love interest of Velma Dinkley (Linda Cardellini).
There are no reports of a Scooby-Doo 3 and Gellar fans are hoping her new Paramount+ series Wolf Pack gets renewed for a second season. When asked about the chances of a renewal, Gellar said everyone wants a second season: “We have a writers’ room open, and we’re preparing, but everything is in flux right now with the strike. I think that’s the biggest issue. But the numbers, the fans — everybody wants Season 2.”
