Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson revealed recently that he won’t be running for president anytime soon, despite the tease of his Young Rock TV show conceit. The Rock says he needs that time for his daughters, and we believe him, but he sure is busy anyway.
Promoting Black Adam has been exhausting — and The Rock has great stamina for the game. But who knew he had such versatility? Wrestling and acting and lifting are one thing, but the singing?!!
Yet The Rock takes the stage and another star turn in a new genre singing “Kellyoke” with the great Kelly Clarkson, and “totally nails it” as one commenter puts it. They do the late Loretta Lynn‘s “Don’t Come Home Drinkin’ with Lovin’ on Your Mind.”
Clarkson carries the duet, but still, The Rock holds his own.
Who knew he could carry a tune like this? Well Clarkson did — she’s asked The Rock to sing before…Islands in the stream…
Big fans will know that one of the great plotlines of Young Rock is how his mom turned down a chance at Star Search to take care of her son, not wanting a singing career to distract her from his needs.
In the series, they sing a duet together frequently — Don’t go breaking my heart — and it’s always moving.
