NBA legend Michael Jordan and NBA legend Charles Barkley were “soulmates” according to NFL Hall of Famer (and Jordan pal) Ahmad Rashad. And someday, Ahmad predicts, the two hoops Hall of Famers will patch up their broken friendship.
Until then, the admittedly stubborn Barkley thinks things will stay the same. Why? Barkley explains his Jordan troubles in typical Barkley parlance: “we’re both just jack-asses, to be honest with you.”
Swipe to hear Barkley tell this to TNT’s NBA maestro Ernie Johnson; it’s clear Barkley means the “jack-ass” description as a compliment. Hard-headedness was a key to Jordan’s incomparable drive and success.
The falling out allegedly occurred after Barkley famously criticized Jordan’s ownership of Charlotte’s NBA franchise, telling a radio host that MJ hired his friends and paid the price in losses.
The hyper-competitive Jordan DID NOT LIKE the way Barkley described his stewardship of the team. And that’s all it took, evidently. No more Chuck-Mike brotherhood — or at least an estranged one is all that’s left.
