So there are two NBA icons and Hall of Famers on the TNT hoops show working with consummate broadcast man Ernie Johnson. Those two guys are named Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley. The other man on the program — often the voice of reason at that — is Kenny “The Jet” Smith. Listen to Charles diss The Jet hard, saying he’d be invisible to President Clinton, if the two were in the same room.
Chuck says Clinton would see Shaq and him and come over and say hi. But seeing Smith Clinton might just say “get me a hot dog,” according to Barkley. Smith thinks otherwise, but there’s no doubt Chuck and Shaq top The Jet in the fame category.
Smith, of course, is no slouch when it comes to hoops. He was an all-everything school boy baller in NYC, a first-team All-American at North Carolina where he played with Michael Jordan, then won two NBA Championships with the Houston Rockets. Good enough? Not for Charles Barkley. Smith is a no-name, according to Chuck.
