NBA veteran Mike Conley Jr. has played a lot of NBA basketball. The former Grizzlies guard who moved to the Utah Jazz this season to provide spark and veteran leadership to an up and coming franchise had a uniquely horrible shooting night in his Utah debut. How bad? Conley shot 1-for-16 from the field. Ouch.
But they still love Conley in Utah, because everybody has an off night. Even Stockton and Malone sometimes bricked shots. Near the end of the game, which Utah managed to win 100-95 despite Conley’s shooting ineptitude, Conley hit a free throw to put the game out of reach. And the Utah crowd went crazy for him, giving the vet a standing ovation. Conley soaked it up and asked for more, raising his arms in relief and relish.
