In the For the People episode “Moral Suasion,” new federal public defender Allison Adams (Jasmin Savoy Brown) has a new client: a man who’s been arrested for selling illegal cigarettes. She’s determined to get him released without bail. Meanwhile, Judge Nicholas Byrne is called to jury duty. At first, he’s excited about experiencing the criminal justice system from another perspective. But when it comes time for the jury to vote, he’s the odd man out.
Judge Nicholas Byrne is portrayed by Vondie Curtis-Hall. He’s known for his roles on Rosewood (Beaumont Rosewood Sr.), Daredevil (Ben Urich), Soul Food (Charles Miller), ER (Roger McGrath, for which he was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award), Chicago Hope (Dr. Dennis Hancock), and in films including Romeo + Juliet (Captain Prince), Passion Fish (Sugar LeDoux), and The Mambo Kings (Miguel Montoya), among others. For the People airs Thursdays at 10 pm on ABC, right after Station 19.
