In The Big Bang Theory episode “The Inspiration Deprivation,” Amy (Mayim Bialik) is asked to visit the Human Resources (HR) department at work. She’s pretty sure it has something to do with the scene she caused in a room full of Nobel Prize laureates. But it’s actually good news. HR director Janine Davis tells Amy her name has been submitted for the Nobel Prize after all. If Amy wins, she’ll be the fourth woman to have won the Prize in physics. Just thinking about what it would mean for women everywhere causes Amy to suffer a meltdown.
[Watch King in If Beale Street Could Talk]
Regina King reprises her role as Mrs. Janine Davis. Last time she appeared on the show was in the 2017 episode “The Retraction Reaction,” when Leonard (Johnny Galecki) angered the University when he gave an embarrassing radio interview. Earlier this year, King won a Golden Globe and an Oscar for her role in the film If Beale Street Could Talk based on the James Baldwin novel (see link above).
After her Oscar win, King spoke to Stephen Colbert about her goal to make sure that everything she produces in the future is staffed by 50 percent women (see video clip below). The Big Bang Theory airs Thursdays at 8 pm on CBS. [NOTE: Stream any CBS show through CBS ALL-ACCESS.]
