You know that video where Klay Thompson scores like 90 points on only four dribbles or some such? The one you share with your friends who like James Harden and you say: this is so much better? Well Klay Thompson apparently wanted another one of those videos, so in Game 4 of the first round of the NBA playoffs he scored 27 points — in the first half!

[Note: Despite forward Draymond Green‘s essential and hard-to-ignore presence, the Golden State Warriors were once primarily known for the inimitable shooting show called the “Splash Brothers” — Steph Curry and Klay Thompson making the nets splash repeatedly as they rained down three-pointers and sundry mid-range jumpers. This pre-Kevin Durant Warriors incarnation is the golden era for many fans, even though the new team also wears a championship ring.]
So sometimes the casual fan — but never opposing coaches — might even forget about Klay Thompson. After all, Thompson lately hasn’t been lighting it up lately. He hadn’t scored 20 points in a game since March. But Thompson, recognizing he needed a refresher in splashing did what any literal-minded California guy would do: he jumped in the ocean. (He was playing beach volleyball with teammate Jonas Jerebko, so why not?)
The Pacific Ocean has long been known to sooth what ails you, but who knew it could fix a shooting slump? The one and only Klay Thompson knew. As one commenter said, this is the “most Klay Thompson thing I’ve ever heard.”
Klay said he was playing beach volleyball with Jonas Jerebko yesterday and decided to jump into the ocean to clear his head. He thinks that got him on the right track again.
