HoopMaps is an app designed for recreational basketball players. It lists pickup games so ballers don’t have to waste time playing on an empty court. The twin brothers behind the app, Donte Morris and Dominic Morris, pitched their business on Shark Tank in November 2017. They went into the Tank seeking a $100,000 investment in exchange for five percent equity. Although they did get the opportunity to pitch in front of Mark Cuban, owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks, the Morris brothers left without a deal.

Dominic Morris reports that while taping the Shark Tank episode, HoopMaps was in talks with Big3, the 3 on 3 professional basketball league founded by rapper/actor Ice Cube. “We actually told Mark (Cuban) that we were going to potentially work with them and he contacted them and our relationship with them strengthened.” HoopMaps ran the Big3’s 4-point challenge, a collaborative effort which cross-marketed both brands. New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 10 pm on ABC, right after American Idol. [Related: 27 Favorite ‘Shark Tank’ Products at Amazon — New List]
