FashionTap is a social networking app to help sell fashion and beauty products. Designers, retailers, and publicists post images of products they want to promote and tag all of the items in the images, so when a user touches one, say a necklace, the user is brought to an online store where the necklace can be purchased. If your followers buy something through photos you’ve posted on Instagram, you earn a commission on each sale. The entrepreneur behind FashionTap, fashion blogger Amy Roiland, pitched her business on Shark Tank in April 2016. She went into the Tank seeking an investment of $100,000 in exchange for 10 percent equity. She received an offer from Barbara Corcoran but the real estate mogul wanted 25 percent equity. Roiland declined the offer and left without a deal.
According to LinkedIn, Roiland continues to work on FashionTap, to write for her blog A Fashion Nerd, and — since February 2017 — is running social media for the fashion brand Betty and Veronica (she sometimes models the clothes too, see photo below!). In February 2019, Roiland announced that she’s launching her own fashion brand, AmRoi — eyewear, vegan shoes and accessories including camera straps (photos below). New episodes of Shark Tank air Sundays at 9 pm on ABC. [Related: 27 Favorite Shark Tank Products List]
