Kodiak Cakes launched as a line of all-natural, whole grain pancake, flapjack and waffle mixes. The high-protein mixes come in a variety of flavors including buttermilk, dark chocolate, and crunchy peanut butter. The founder of Kodiak Cakes, Joel Clark and COO Cameron Smith of Park City, Utah pitched the breakfast food business on Shark Tank in April 2014. They went into the Tank seeking an investment of $500,000 in exchange for 10 percent equity but, alas, they did not walk away with a deal.
