Kandi Burruss’ Mama Joyce Is Back, Gives Todd “Back-Handed Compliment”
Kandi Burruss Says Husband “Not Average Joe Blow Running Around”
In The Real Housewives of Atlanta episode “A Mother’s Love,” while Cynthia Bailey deals with her daughter Noelle going off to college, Kandi Burruss has a chat with her mother, Mama Joyce. Mama Joyce and Kandi’s husband Todd Tucker haven’t been talking lately, which isn’t a surprise. Last year on the show, Mama Joyce told Porsha Williams that Kandi marrying Todd was like taking “a lemon” (Todd) and making lemonade. That televised comment sent Mama Joyce and Todd’s relationship back “a million years” according to Kandi.

In this episode, Mama Joyce is now claiming that her lemon comment was “meant as a compliment.” She tries to explain, “If they said you went from lemon to lemonade then I’d say I’m glad that lemon chose me.” It’s not easy to decipher the logic but Mama Joyce continues: “If they a lemon they couldn’t have got with you.” Kandi is confused, “Now I’m a lemon?” Either way, Kandi says “it’s a back-handed compliment.” Kandi continues to defend her husband and his husband-worthy attributes. She reminds her mother that when she met Todd he was “a good-looking man and he was making six-figures, that’s not the average joe blow running around.” Mama Joyce wasn’t (and still doesn’t appear) impressed. The Real Housewives of Atlanta airs Sundays at 8 pm on Bravo, right before The Real Housewives of New Jersey.
