Kyler Murray and the 11-1 Oklahoma Sooners take on Texas Saturday, trying to pull the Longhorn out of their sides after letting Texas give them their only blemish on the season back in October, delivering a 48-45 loss. Murray threw three touchdowns in the 4th quarter alone, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the Sooners’ paltry defense and freshman kicker Cameron Dicker finished off Oklahoma with a late field goal. Lesson: you give up 48 points, there’s a good chance you’re gonna lose.
Ironically, that loss only bolstered Murray’s chances at the Heisman — his performance could hardly be blamed for the loss. On Saturday, the Sooners will be looking for revenge, and before the game Murray tweeted out Dru Samia’s and Ben Powers’ selections to the Big 12 Conference First Team. That’s 600-plus pounds of protection getting a shout out from Murray, who will try to repeat the scoring binge against the Longhorns and then rely on the Sooners to bring some defense. Game is Saturday on ABC at 12 noon.
