In the Married at First Sight: Honeymoon Island episode “Blinded By Love,” it’s Day 10 and some of couples on St. Lucia start to crack (Isabella blows-up at Tyler), others have big breakthroughs like Shannon and Kimber. The adorable couple seem to be on the same page on everything except having children. Shannon wants to have kids (or is at least open to the idea) while Kimber has said from the get-go that she didn’t want to have kids. In this episode, Shannon brings up the subject again after buying a snow-globe for his niece. He suggests that maybe Kimber hasn’t spent enough time around little kids to want them. That’s when Kimber opens up about her past.
Kimber was engaged before. She didn’t want kids then either but she fell in love with him and then his daughter. Kimber said she planned to adopt her once they got married. (The little girl had never met her mother.) Kimber said it was hard — “the stay at home mom thing” — and losing them both when they broke up was devastating. Kimber says the experience “resolidified that I don’t want kids.” Shannon suggests that they talk with the pastor and Jessica about it. When they do, Kimber reveals that she struggled with depression as a kid and doesn’t want to pass it down to a child. At the end of the healthy conversation, one which boosted Kimber’s spirits, Kimber says, “I’m comfortable calling it (having kids) a maybe.”
