On the This Is Us episode “Vietnam,” a young Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia) is seen working on a car at a garage. When drafted, Jack served in the Vietnam War as a mechanic. He served alongside his little brother Nicky (Michael Angarano), who didn’t make it home. In this moving episode, Jack’s estranged father Stanley Pearson makes an appearance too. [Note: This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman worked with author and Vietnam veteran Tim O’Brien (The Things They Carried) on the show.]
[Onorati played the Florida Bookie in Goodfellas]
Jack’s father Stanley Pearson is portrayed by Peter Onorati. He’s known for his roles on S.W.A.T. (Jeff Mumford, photo below), Murder in the First (Jimmy Salter), American Dreams (Dom), Cop Rock (Det. Vincent LaRusso), JAG (Brett Orman), Joe’s Life (Joe Gennaro), and Kate & Allie (Lou Carello), among many others. Fun fact: Onorati has an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and worked for Ford and McCall’s magazines before he starting acting in the mid 1980s. This Is Us airs Tuesdays at 9 pm on NBC, right after The Voice.
